What is Health?

Many people will say health is whatever they’re into – healthy food, regular exercise, herbs, supplements, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, good sleep, healthy relationships, daily bowel movements, financial portfolios, an active spiritual life, no pain, or no physical symptoms. Sometimes, one of those items will make sense to you and you’ll get on board with it for a while. Shortly, you’ll find yourself getting back to the place you started from or, at best, you found the thing that makes your life shine and you’ve made a lifelong radical transformation. Hallelujah!

What if you’re one of those people who ended up back where you started? What if the flame died down after starting a new project? What if you were really convinced you found your thing to eventually find out it wasn’t your thing after all? What is it that will make you feel healthy?

Look around where you are right now. What do you like about the things in your current environment? The color of the walls? The art? The pictures? The feel of the air? The smells that surround you?

Often, our thing is just beyond our conscious mind. It’s just beyond most of our senses, but, not all of them. The one sense that actively tells us what our thing is is our sense of sense, in essence, our feeling. We feel a certain way when we’re happy, when we’re in the zone, when time flies and we don’t notice, when we laugh so hard our bellies hurt. That feeling is the guiding light. That feeling directs us to where we need to pay attention.

So, what is it that you enjoy? Reading, writing, swimming, bicycle riding, running, riding horses, playing with animals, playing with children, painting, crafting, skiing, building things, volunteering, cooking, cleaning, organizing, watching TV? It doesn’t really matter what it is, but whatever it is, that is where your health is…. and you must do it. Find out why in What is Health Part 2
